Enrolment Policy
St Olivers Primary School is owned and operated by the parish of St Oliver Plunkett, Pascoe Vale. It is under the direct authority of the Parish Priest.
The purpose of the school is to provide a Catholic education for the Catholic children of the parish in partnership with and supported by their parents.
This policy is underpinned by the stated enrolment policy of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne (CEOM 2.4).
Applications for enrolment of children at St Oliver's will be granted in the following order of precedence:
Baptised Catholic residing within the boundaries of St Oliver's parish
No baptised Catholic child residing outside St Oliver's parish may claim a right to enrolment under category 2 above if such enrolment has the potential to exclude a baptised Catholic child residing within the Parish.
No baptised non Catholic child may claim a right to enrolment on the grounds that he/she has a sibling attending St Oliver's school in the year for which he/she seeks enrolment if such enrolment has the potential to exclude a baptised Catholic child.
When the number seeking enrolment exceeds the number of places available, names will be placed on a waiting list and the applications will then be processed in the order of precedence stated above.
The maximum class size in Prep will be 29 provided no baptised Catholic child residing in the parish is excluded. If the number of applications for baptised Catholic children residing in the Parish exceeds this limit then a Prep class size may be 31 with the agreement of the Consultative Committee in accordance with the Victorian Catholic Schools Certified Agreement, section 3.3.3.1. Variations to this item of the present policy may be made after due and proper consultation between the Parish Priest, the Principal, the Consultative Committee and the School Board.
Applications for children with disabilities are considered under the terms of St Olivers Enrolment Policy.
